School of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

The school aims at educating highly competitive, socially conscious, and internationally-oriented food specialists. Our program provides balanced knowledge in theories and issues in today's food system, from farm to fork. The program is designed in a highly interdisciplinary manner: students are expected to master the subjects in both natural and social science including crop science, processing, nutrition science, environmental science, economics, marketing, and business management.

Department of Farm Management

In the Department of Farm Management, we introduce students to the basic and applied life sciences of plants and animals. Higher levels of production and management skills in agriculture, horticulture and livestock production with a focus on environmental conservation and energy flow is the next level of courses offered to our students. By applying cutting-edge biotechnology,the department also endeavors to develop innovative food products. The department is dedicated to contributing to the betterment of society by training socially responsible and capable students who as graduates will actively address the evolving issues in the agri-food industry.

Department of Food Management

It goes without saying that food is one of the major concerns for our daily life. Students in the Department of Food Management will learn about the entire food system from processing, distribution, food services, to general consumption by combining both scientific technologies such as food science and food engineering, with social-science based methodologies such as food economics, marketing and management. Our major objective is to produce future leaders of the food industry who are equipped with practical business knowledge gained through scientific experiment-oriented education and case method learning.

Department of Environmental Sciences

The Department of Environmental Sciences provides opportunities for studying comprehensive food and food-related environmental issues from various perspectives. Areas of study at our department include planning for agricultural land use and recycling food wastes and biological materials.Students are exposed to a wide range of critical questions in environmental conservation and learn to establish sustainable systems for society. Our main objective is to develop professionals who can strongly contribute to creative conservation and remediation of the environment.
