We are studying the art and science of nursing, a field of study which focuses on people.

The Miyagi University School of Nursing values the practice of scientifically-based nursing. This underlies our curriculum. Students first take courses in basic science to obtain basic knowledge of the professional field of nursing. Upon completion of these foundation courses, students proceed to the next level of their studies which includes liberal arts courses in addition to advanced level nursing studies. Nursing courses cover health-related issues and professional skills which form the basics in the practice of nursing. The applied science and nursing courses include nursing practice sessions which simulate real-life clinical situations. This practical academic approach is essential for improving students’ ability to provide quality nursing care. We have formal agreements with various facilities outside the university who offer clinical practice opportunities for students to gain experience and skills as nurses in real settings.
By combining a practical academic programme which includes an intensive practice in scientifically-based nursing and liberal arts subjects to help refine their sensitivity as humans, we ensure that our students become nurses who can and will provide well-balanced personal care.
